The sterling silver bead is visually reminiscent of a Tibetan prayer wheel and bears the mantra "Om mani padme hum". This mantra stands for the purification of the mind. One usually finds these beads in Tibetan monks' prayer chains. You do not have to be a Buddhist to be aware of the effect of this accessory.
