The mantra beads are visually reminiscent of Tibetan prayer wheels and bear the mantra "Om mani padme hum". This mantra stands for the purification of the mind. You can usually find these beads in the prayer chains of Tibetan monks. You do not have to be a Buddhist to be aware of the effect of this accessory.
